    more from this reviewer

An enjoyable read, but the movie "Limitless" is better...

This is an excellent first novel -- a gripping and unpredictable plot, interesting characters and so on. I was lucky to gain an early preview of the new movie "Limitless" and I was blown away by it. I then read the book, so it could be the order in which I did it, but I found the movie to a noticeable improvement on the book. Better storyline (well-crafted by Leslie Dixon), more fleshed-out characters (de Niro!) and a far better ending (which they apparently changed during re-shoots anyway). But I did enjoy reading the book immensely, so I do recommend it.

    Fast paced and worthwhile

This book was incredibly fast paced, but that's quite appropriate given the subject matter. I flew through it in one sitting. The narrator is quite likeable and the book is difficult to put down once you begin to get attatched to him. The heavy foreshadowing is also quite appropriate - you know Eddie's ultimate fate from the first page, but you just HAVE to keep reading regardless. The more you read, the more you like Eddie, the more you hope against fate for him to find some way out of his downward spiral. Glynn's writing style is very enjoyable as well, interspersing subtle moments of poetic beauty into his rapid-fire scene changes and plot movements. All in all, a very enjoyable book. I look forward to future excellence from Glynn.
