It's not "The DaVinci Code"
There was some good plot devices in here, but there was a few too many which got tedious and some were highly implausible (i.e., someone who wants to make a permanent mark for another to find sometime in the future does NOT put the mark in a tree -- they burn, get chopped, blow down, die, get marked and scarred by other animals, etc). The author definitely doesn't understand how women think (but I've had this complaint about women authors). It seemed to be a poor imitation of "The DaVinci Code" with the characters following clues to find something important.
It was still a good and an interesting read with a lot of historical information and there was lots to enjoy.
