Arranged marriage.. would not want one!

When a novel can evoke emotions from the reader than the author has accomplished it's goal.

I felt frustrated when I started this book because of all the deceit, but as I continued reading the characters attitudes changed as expected. The story is fast paced and interesting.
This is my first novel by this author but not my last.

Could I read this novel again. Yes, only for reference if there is a sequel.

The Elusive Wife had a good plot and likable characters. I did seem to feel like the story skipped sections,  that ended up with me feeling lost and unable to stay with with book for more than an hour or so at a time.

This book was a bit hard to believe in the beginning. A woman is abandoned by her husband, he realizes the woman he's been pursuing is his wife, barley makes it up to her and everything is going to be happy? Not to mention the plot twist squeezed in the last 20 pages. This book gets much better after Olivia decides to stay married to Jason, but there was nothing to persuade her to do so. The book gets off to a slow start where every single thought and moment is described and you're just waiting for the plot to start. I don't regret purchasing it, but it certainly wasn't a favorite.

The late Earl of Coventry was still controlling Jason from the grave he was to be at Coventry Manor to marry Lady Jane Grant or lose everything that was not entitled. He gets roaring drunk the night before and is still drunk for the nuptials, hardly able to stand the ceremony is held and he promptly goes to bed to sleep it off. The next morning he takes his leave without ever talking to his wife. Weeks later he head back to get an annulment to find his wife has gone to London. His main problem...he has no idea what Lady Jane looks like.
I love Callie Hutton's books and enjoy this one. It was not one of my favorite because I thought it was a little slow but picked up towards the end. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I'm not a huge fan of Regency, but did appreciate the lighthearted comedy of the situation. Would definitely look for other work by this author.
