I really enjoyed reading "The Elusive Wife" by Callie

I really enjoyed reading "The Elusive Wife" by Callie Hutton. I received the ARC copy from publisher, Entangled Publishing. Jason Cavendish, the Earl of Coventry, has to get married to Lady Jane in order to inherit . He is furious about the arranged marriage, he shows up late and to make matters worse he is drunk. He has no memory of what his bride looks like. He leaves without saying anything to go back to London. Lady Jane stays awhile at Lord Coventry's place. Eventually, she ends up in London with her childhood friend Elizabeth and her husband Grif Lansdowne. She is staying with them for the Season. At an event Lady Olivia captures Lord Coventry's attention, unbeknownst him that she is his wife. Will he ever find out the truth? Will she forgive him for the way he treated her after the wedding? Will they have the happy ever after? I loved the banter between Lady Olivia and Lord Coventry especially when she calls him Lord Arrogant. Callie Hutton has a great sense of humor, a wild imagination, and the ability to write a fun and quick read. I look forward to reading more books written by Callie Hutton

The Elusive Wife is a witty, fast-paced historical romance that is thoroughly enjoyable.  Callie Hutton demonstrates her sense of humor, imagination, and ability to write an entertaining book, as she pens this tale of an arrogant London rake and the beautiful woman who brings him to his knees.

Lady Jane Grant, also known as Olivia, finds herself in an arranged marriage, to Jason Cavendish, the Earl of Coventry, a man she’s never met. Olivia has lived a secluded lifestyle in the country regions of Italy and doesn’t want a marriage of convenience, as is the norm among the ton of London. She wants a marriage based on love and mutual respect.

Jason Cavendish is a handsome, entitled gentlemen of the ton and a much sought-out lover, who has earned the notorious reputation of a rake. He is obligated to marry Lady Jane, if he wants to keep his title and family money, as decreed in his father’s will. He has no desire to be married to a woman he doesn’t love, so is extremely drunk at the time of his marriage and has no recollection of the ceremony or the woman he married.

Finding himself smitten the first time he sees Olivia at a London party, Jason vies for her attention. But Olivia rebuffs Jason’s pursuit and leads him on a merry chase when he doesn’t realize the woman he’s trying to court is none other than his wife.

This book is well-written, with a story line that flows smoothly. It has humor, conflict, and historical romance all wrapped up in a happily ever after. This is an entertaining book and one that will keep the reader turning the pages from beginning to end.

A heartwarming story of an elusive wife and a reluctant husband

A heartwarming story of an elusive wife and a reluctant husband who find love through friends, family and fate. I found myself endeared to Lady Olivia and hoping Lord Coventry would come to his senses sooner than later. And, there was just enough drama and humor to keep me interested to the end.

Received from the publisher for an honest review.

The Elusive Wife is a gem of a romance. Jason, the new Earl of Coventry, must marry immediately if he wants to receive his father's estate. He resents being controlled from the grave. To make the situation bearable he drinks himself into a stupor. He arrives late to his wedding and with such a hangover that he doesn't remember anything about his new wife, Lady Jane Olivia Grant. He leaves his new bride in the country and retreats to London without even talking to her. Hurt and angry, the abandoned bride goes to visit a friend in town. At one of the many parties, she chances to meet her husband but he doesn't even know her. Ignorant of who she really is, he becomes smitten with his own wife. This gives Lady Olivia a perfect opportunity to exact her revenge. I love the interaction between this couple. Don't miss their story. Callie Hutton has created characters that you'll love. Their romance is special. You'll want them to find happiness.

    Funny & Fresh Regency Romance!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Elusive Wife by Callie Hutton. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and couldn't put it down once I'd started. The hero, lovingly called Lord Arrogant (chuckle) couldn't possibly get himself into any more trouble while the wonderful heroine, Olivia, is witty and too smart for the roguish lord.

This is a must read and I'll certainly be looking out for more books from this author. I Loved it! 5 Stars.

When I first started reading The Elusive Wife I wondered how in the world would Ms. Hutton redeem Jason Cavendish, aka Lord Arrogant. He was a wonderful rake, and gave his poor bride enough to dislike. Ms. Hutton, though, came through. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Jason and his elusive bride, Olivia, loved how he wooed her and how she was able to put him in his place. The Elusive Wife gave me everything I look for in a romance, a handsome, roguish hero, a feisty, strong-willed and intelligent heroine, a good fight for that happily ever after. Well done, Ms. Hutton. And thank you!
