    233 pages

This 233 page book was very good. While it was not perfectly edited, the editing was not a distraction. It is a free, stand alone book. The first murder was done in a manner, I had never read or heard about before, and while not extremely graphic, it was still a bit gruesome, I admit it made me cringe a bit. The second murder was very sad. I really liked the character Bryan aka, skinhead. This is a police, murder mystery. The heroine, Donna is a rookie detective, a bit unsure of herself and wanting to prove she is is just as smart, brave, strong and capable as the men, she works with. There is implied sex, a few sad parts. I even teared up at two points. There is some cursing. Donna's partner is also a well rounded, likable character, with a kind, thoughtful personality. This is a stand alone book. When I finished this novel, I immediately looked for a sequal, unfortunately there was not one. There was a .99 book by Lee though, so I purchased it. I hope it is as good as this one was. The reason I did not five star this book was because I never found out what happened with Mr. Miller, what was wrong with Mrs. Z, the editing and some over complex and long conversations. I will archive this one for a reread. I would recommend this book for all readers, ages 18 and up. It is not chick lit.

Great book! Didn't give it 5 stars as I felt disconnected from the protagonist in the beginning. It took a bit for her to come to life, for me.

What a good book!  I love the prose, the characters and creative story line.  It says in the bio that this is his second
novel, but I can't find a reference anywhere to his first.  I'd love to read it if it's even close to as good as The Flies of
August.  I, too, hope that there are many more Donna Bradley books in the future.

    Very interesting mystery

I enjoyed reading this book. I felt that it needed to continue on; the ending was too abrupt. The story line was good and held my attention.
