Pieces of Eight, the second in the Frey saga, picks up right where the first book left off. The well developed characters are charming and unique, and the witty dialogue kept me alternately laughing and holding my breath throughout. Wright's work has the feel of R.A. Salvatore's dark elf series. She has reminded me that I've been away from the world of dark elves for far too long. I am anxiously awaiting her next book.

Decent story but....

The book is just too short/small. Book one and two could be combined to make a decent sized book. Also the main character has to be about the most dense and whiney heroine I have read in recent decades.

This was a very good book. I felt the characters were very well written and the book was very well paced with plenty of mystery throughout. The only gripe I have about the book was the occassional grammar and spelling mistakes. The most glaring one in the book is that the author seems to think the past tense of DRAG is DRUG. Drug is something they give you to make you feel better, the past tense of DRAG is DRAGGED. Other than that, this was a very enjoyable book to read.

    Pretty Good Follow-up

Didn't enjoy this one as much as the first, but would recommend that you read it after the first as it ties all the loose ends from the first book. Got kinda annoyed with the main character always blacking out in stressful situations, but other than that was a good read.
