I was thrilled to find that The Ghost and the Graveyard is part of a series. After finishing this novel, which is a fast-paced, sensual, well-crafted piece, I was anxious to read on and continue the vicarious adventure of Grateful, her sexy ghost and the mysteries that lurk behind the graveyard gates. This novel is definately intended for mature audiences only. As such, I found myself carving out some reading time and wanting to pretend I was in college again so I could pull and all-nighter to stay up and read. Character development is top notch, as well as the underlying story which unfolds chapter by chapter and keeps the reader completely engaged and thirsty for the next scene, and the next, and the other after that!!! Now I anxiously await book #2. Well done!

    *Spoiler Warning*

I don't leave books unread. That being said, I almost forced myself to finish this book, and decided to not read the preview for the next. While the technical aspect of the writing was not horrible by any means, the world and the characters in it leave a lot to be desired.

Each one of the main characters were extremely shallow, cookie-cutter, and sometimes down right annoying. The love triangle felt extremely forced, especially between the protagonist and her ghostly roommate. The personalities of the characters would do so many 180 degree flips that at times I had to re-read the page to make sure I knew who the author was talking about. Even the minor characters would do complete personality do-overs with only a single line of dialog for explanation.

The story itself, even with suspension of disbelief in play, seemed really farfetched. The world was setup with very arbitrary rules that were never explained nor made any sense. The creatures themselves seem to have come out of old fashioned horror movies rather than any lore the author may have come up with or borrowed.

Overall, though, the series has some potential if the author makes some major improvements. While not a literary masterpiece, for a free book, it is an interesting read if you can't find something while you are in between books. I may pick up on the next book in the series if I am ever in a tight spot again.

    Okay story

I usually can't put down a book once I start it, but this book I had problems picking up. The storyline was interesting but 3/4 of the book was about sex that she felt manipulated into having. I have no problem with sex in a book but for an approximately 200 page book she really needed more in her storyline. I'm glad it was free and I wont buy the rest of the series.

Don't read further if you don't want any type of spoiler
** I found Grateful kind of annoying. Also, the thing that bothered me the most and why I stopped reading - If the author gave the power to Grateful to control everything in her space, and she quickly enough figures out she can create "hands" to hold her 'husband' down and have her way with him - but not a couple pages later she can't think fast enough to kill or stop Marcus from leaving?? I don't know. It bothered me and by that time I'd had enough.
