    The Start of Something Great

This book was the start of J.R.R. Tolkien's great works and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It portrays today's heroes and villains, good and evil, and puts them into a magical setting. It is a fictional adventure. The book interested me because of its genre. The main character is a hobbit is named Bilbo Baggins. He lives in a peaceful place and then he is recruited by a wizard and some dwarves onto an adventure to reclaim their treasure from a dragon. They end up encountering goblins and many other things during their adventure. This book is the starting point of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. You can relate things from the book to real life. It may not have been his best work but it was the start of his great works. This book was one of the best of its genre (in my own opinion) because of its easy understandable flowing plot, descriptive word use, and the flow of words. It makes you want to read on and on and not stop. The theme of the book was good and evil. It completes its purpose in interesting the reader and including all critical elements of writing. I thought it was a good book because of its descriptive word use, flow of plot and words, and exciting plot.

    Magical and Imaginative

I Had this version on cassette tapes when I was a kid. It is just as good as I remembered it. The acting is as great as the movie and cartoon of the Hobbit. For a 50's radio show this sounded excellent and the actors voices grab your attention and make you listen the whole way through . The Voices of Smug, Gollum, and the dwarfs were the best I have heard.

Can't Go Wrong with The Hobbit

The Hobbit is indeed a classic, and I have listened to different versions. This one was just as good as the rest. The accents aren't really British, which might perturb some people, even though The Hobbit takes place in a mythical land that doesn't exist... not in England. That being said, the story is wonderful and if you haven't gotten a chance to read or listen to it, this would be a great way to do it.

    Fun to listen to

This was a great way to experinece The Hobbit. The characterizations and the music seemed like listening to an old radio show. We listened to this, next is The Lord of the Rings!
