Just outstanding!
I am a retired police officer and no one -- no one -- captures the mood, the action, the drama, the humor and the near-insanity that is police work in America better than Joseph Wambaugh. The New Centurions is based on actual events in LA and stands as the definative work about the effect police work has on the minds of the young men and women who enter the field. The Blue Knight is a muscular telling of what it is like to be a police officer consumed with the job and settling one last debt to a society that largely ignores the devastating impact of the job on the man. Hollywood Crows is another in Wambaugh's wonderful tellings of the life and times of crime fighting in America. Just a great collection.
