    I Also Recommend:

Highly Recommended- Riveting- Unique- Not What You Expect- Will 'Wow' You

"The Knack" by Jesse Gordon will keep you up at night and will be your constant companion until you finish reading it through to the last chapter. Very imaginative writing style and intriguing plot with memorable soul-wrenching characters if not for their charm but for their 'out there' way of thinking. Jesse Gordon's insight into our human psyche is extraordinary. The delicate phenomena that he deals with in "The Knack" will keep you turning page after page in anticipation of perhaps what you yourself might do in a similar situation. Not what I expected, and I would not have guessed the ending. But then that's exactly what I enjoy in a novel- the 'unexpected'- the chills and thrills. "The Knack" is not to be missed!

    Not your typical vampire novel

Not what I expected. The troubled teens in this book have vampire like tendencies, but this is NOT a vampire novel. Its about a group of unfortunate teens who contract an illness that causes them to feed on the blood of others. The premise may be cliche, but the real treat here is following along as the three main characters adjust to their lives as psychic feeders, their broken families and each other. A great read.

    Gritty, surreal, unforgettable!

This is a modern day love story - told with a slight horror/vampire slant, and it's basically the story of a young woman (Kyna) raised in an abusive household. Kyna has given up on love and hope and has basically stopped fighting against a mysterious form of STD that gives her psychic powers at the cost of having to feed on other people's blood or auras on a regular basis. But Aaron (the other main character) comes into her life by chance, and when she befriends him with the intention of using him to satisfy her own dependency, she ends up finding something that she gave up long ago: love. The Knack is very raw in its telling. Gordon lays it all out for the reader to see, good or bad, and that's definitely part of the appeal here. The reader isn't just made to tag along, you ARE the characters at times. Parts of the book are gut-wrenchingly sad/gross, but others offer hope too, hope that the temptation that comes with the power to control others can be overcome with trust, companionship. This is a wild emotional ride that I'll definitely never forget. Easily worth the 5 stars.
