    The last Castaways

Roo is an adventurous mutt who always has to have her favorite toy, a squeaking walrus named Poopy. Roo and Poopy cause grandfather many problems as they set out on a trip that turns into the fishing trip of a lifetime. The boat they take on this epic adventure is the Unsinkable, which looks like it should be at the bottom of the ocean, but is somehow still afloat. Roo slyly buys the Unsinkable for much more then they can afford so they set out on a fishing trip with The Captain to find the King Cod but in order to track this fish they must travel across many oceans. The book is set up as a set of letters written from Grandfather to his grandson and when he could not send letters he kept track of their adventures through the ships log. The illustrations are sketches made by the author to exemplify the story being told. They bring the letters to life in such a way that it feels like the letters are being written to you, the reader. The hand written notes surrounding the illustrations are sometimes difficult to read but they add character to the pages and make them real.
