    more from this reviewer

    full of fun and thrills!

The List of 7 is positively one of the most fun adventures I've ever read! I've just finished reading it for the second time.

The plot is full of mystery and suspense as Arthur Conan Doyle and his few newly acquired friends try to stop the underground takeover of the world by a group of seven people. I know the plot sounds kind of typical but the characters are what bring so much fun to the story. The main characters are fantastic and supported by a cast of walking mummies, flying gargoyles and other nightmarish creatures to keep Dr. Doyle and friends on their toes. The ending doesn't bring a lot of closure and that's okay because this book has a sequel, The Six Messiahs. You don't want to miss this thrilling tale full of compelling characters.

    What a Book!

This was one of those books that you can't wait to finish because it has grabbed your attention but you also hate to finish because then this wonderful ride into our imaginations will be over. The story was exciting but what really sold the book for me was his character development. Holmes, Sparks, Larry and Barry were clearly and concisely drawn but also each layered like an onion. As Homes did, I really began to question the true character of Jack Sparks and finding that device in a general fiction book was a delight! I hoped at the end that Jack Sparks would survive and show up in more books but it does not seem like that will happen. I am trying to find his other book and will now look for the Bowman book. This guy is great! Of course, Twins Peaks were a great recommendation.

    amazing!!!

I cannot add anything that the other reviewers have not touched on. This is a great book with wonderful characters. The bizzareness of the story will leave one breathless. Read it. Reread it (which is just what I am about to do). Pass it to your friends. ENJOY!!!

    xxxxx

been trying really hard to like this book but am finding it tedious at best. the doctor seems a gullible schmuck being led around by his nose and the sherlock character is unlikeable. been reading a few pages here and there for months and have barely finished 175 pages. not a winner for me.

Not so sure about the ending

The story is very interesting and keeps the reader involved and on edge, except the ending was too abrupt and not what I expected. It is still a good read throughout, but don't have too high hopes for closure.

    Milestone

Well, there's only one thing to say. As I scrolled around the site there's only one title I can think of that gets 5 stars, and that's the List of 7. I read it 5 years ago, and can still remember every line. Mark Frost set a milestone for every writer that wants to be successful.

    Takes your breath away!

Once you start, you can't put it down. The graphic detail, suspense, and action literally pull one through the pages. I've read about 150 mysteries, and this has to be in my top 10.

Absolutely riveting from first page to last.

I completely agree with the other reviewers, as opposed to some of the unnecessarily stuffy critical analyses that have been offered. This book is definitely one of my top-ten favorites ever; somehow Mark Frost, in creating Jack Sparks, has managed to create a character based on Sherlock Holmes who is even more appealing than Holmes, which I would not have thought possible. Although some of the language and terminology may not be perfectly accurate, it's far more important to me, as a reader, to be entertained in a manner that not only allows but inspires my willing suspension of disbelief, which this book was certainly more than authentic enough to do! But does anyone out there know what happened to the Universal movie that was planned? I'd be first in line and would love to know the scoop!
