An outstanding collection for short story lovers
This Mammoth Book collection is one of the best I've seen in the series. The stories pretty much all stick to the road theme (some more successfully than others). The biggest surprise to me was that the best contributions came from the unknown writers (such as Carol Ann Davis' 'Journey's End' and Michael Giorgio's 'The Two-Ton Turtle of Tattler's Terrace', to name two very diverse examples). The contributions from the biggest names (Steinbeck, Kerouac, Thompson) are book chapters and are difficult to enjoy out of context. A little heavy on the sci-fi/fantasy end at times, but other than that an incredibly enjoyable read. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
