Navigation is OK but could be better. Bottom line: if you want the Message its the only choice.

The contents gives direct access to he book but not the chapter. That makes books like Psalms problematic. To overcome requires use of the slider and an estimate of the page number of the chapter you are looking for. Other books like the minor prophets are no big deal. ...

navigation

difficult to move to a book of the Bible. The Contents only gives you the option to go to the start of the Old Testament or the start of the New Testament. You can't jump directly to the start of the Gospel of John, for example, from the Contents screen.

    navigation-update

The Nook version I purchased in Jan. 2012 was updated for free, and it now includes a table of contents that lists every book of the Bible. The next update needs to include a way to go directly to a particular chapter within a book of the Bible.

    Needs a "Content Section"

A Content section is badly needed in the Message Bible, to be able to click on specific books and chapters. The NIV does this beautifully.

Cann't recomend this, don't buy it

Don't like the writing style, language is a little harsh, If I could return it I would. Tried to go to chapters it won't load them, get nothing. Seems extremly hard to navigate. Read a hard copy first.

    Take your time

Take your time if you choose The Message Bible on an e-reader. Not easy to navigate....which is the format of the Bible not the e-reader problem. The Bible is great! Hopefully someone will figure out how to make it more manageable in this format. In the meantime I suggest you read it anyway for simplicity of its narrative contemporary English style.

Great version! Very poorly set up for an ebook.

I agree with others in that this book is difficult to navigate. My biggest problem is that while reading, the page does not have the book name (Matthew, Mark, Luke, etc.) at the top of the page. So, if you haven't read it for a few days, go back, you don't know what book you are in unless you turn page by page to the beginning. I am loving reading this version of the Bible. But so far, it is the least user friendly of all electronic books I have read.
