Skeptical Reader, Pleasantly Surprised Review: I'm an avid rea

    Skeptical Reader, Pleasantly Surprised

Review: I'm an avid reader who's bought countless books on finance, business development, leadership, and more. When I picked up The Money Code, I was initially skeptical about its premise. What could the author present that hasn't been already said a million times before? Despite my doubts, I was intrigued by the book's premise and kept an open mind.

Joe Duran shares his message through the eyes of two characters: Jack and his mentor, the Alchemist. During their first meeting, the Alchemist tells Jack, "So what you’re telling me is that the way you’re making decisions is broken.”

I'm a successful entrepreneur, business leader, husband, and dad, and as I read those words, it was as if the Alchemist was talking to me. As I continued reading, I found myself agreeing with the author's multiple bits of insight. While individually they won't change the world, taken as a whole, they were really eye opening.

In fact, by Chapter 5, I'd set a budget revision meeting with my wife, committed to review the author's money system with her, and plotted out our family spend for the year. The following are a few of the plans I'd actually made after reading the book:

Discuss what is important to my wife and me
Discuss how more or less money will influence our lives (this lead to us making sure to focus on an emergency fund, no debt, paid down mortgage, and retirement investing before we re-did our floors and built a pool)
Since our income can dramatically go up or down every year, we created goals based on different levels of income (before I had one, now I have three levels)

The bottom line: It's rare that any book would motivate me to take immediate action. The Money Code's a compelling book.

Fantastic book that will change the way you make decisions about

Fantastic book that will change the way you make decisions about money. It's well written, easy to understand, and entertaining throughout.
This is not your ordinary personal finance book. In fact, it has nothing to do with investment advice, budgets, and debt reduction.
THE MONEY CODE brings awareness to our actions when it comes to money. It improves how we communicate about money with the ones we love.
And it's all done through a narrative that's fun to read. If you've read books like WHO MOVED MY CHEESE, you'll appreciate how the author presents his teaching points.
    I highly recommend this book.

Oh my gosh, did this ever explain why I repeat the same financial mistakes over and over. Interesting, easy to understand and a great takeaway with the checklist.
