I was lucky enough to spend my early childhood living in the Azores. Now even though I was very young and do not remember much about food, I do remember the raw beauty of the country. That raw beauty is reflected in the “New Portuguese Table” by David Leite. David has put together a collection of recipes that focus on the diverse and rich cuisine that is Portugal. In addition, he takes us on a culinary tour of Portugal and includes glimpses into his own discoveries of his rich culinary heritage.

Brought the country alive again!
Leite and Correia have captured the ambiance of a visit to Portugal, where food is the centerpiece for communal gatherings. The pictures, the stories, and the food help bring back memories of my visits to the Azores. On my first 6 week visit there when i was 20, i came back 15 pounds heavier than when i left. But with a smile from ear to ear!
