One of the best albums ever!!

While Donald Fagen's hit song "I.G.Y." is the most famous one on this album, I was pleasantly surprised that every single track on the album was catchy to listen to. I simply could not stop listening to it over and over again! Not one of the songs on this album could be considered a "filler" song. Fagen has created an album that contains a great variety of sound, like the smooth, mellow sound of songs like "Maxine" to the very danceable songs like "The Goodbye Look" and "Walk Between Raindrops". He also includes a fresh remake of "Ruby Baby".

His most famous song, "I.G.Y." has a feel of optimism and at the same time a touch of sentimentality to it, as I remember the song from when it was new and I was a young child. "Green Flower Street" and "New Frontier" are all excellent songs that received airplay when the album was released in 1982 and are also among my favorites.

As a whole, this solo debut album by Donald Fagen is one of the best I have ever listened to. I highly recommend it to anyone. I have never been into the jazz sound too much, but this album has a freshness to it that is highly addictive and never gets old! A++

The Finest of Donald Fagen's Trilogy

Thankfully when Steely Dan took a hiatus Donald Fagen presented his fans "The Nightfly." The masses were treated to the bouncy tunes of "I.G.Y" and "New Frontier" on the radio airways. "Green Flower Street" might be where Steely Dan's "Josie" frequents when she is not in her hometown. "Maxine" sets the stage for a romantic slow dance with a special someone... Speaking of "The Nightfly" the dj coos to his listeners inbetween the promos, jazz, and personal reminiscing. Donald on the cover posing as "The Nightfly is a fantastic touch. "The Nightfly" cover has been reproduced in many styles including Japanese comics art. Spoil yourself and get this cd.

A great debut solo album from Donald Fagen, co-founder of Steely Dan.

After the 1980 Gaucho album and tour have been completed, Steely Dan had broken up, and this is how Donald Fagen's debut solo album, The Nightfly came to place, and it's a excellent album from start to finish, and this album also features the hit single "New Frontier", which was a music video on MTV and VH1, but this album features an arrangement by Donald Fagen on "Ruby Baby" which was wriiten by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Not only fans of Steely Dan will enjoy this album, but fans of Donald Fagen as well.
