    A Great book....

I don't know that it glorifies or apologizes for the exploits of the Chicago mob, but this book is written like an editorial worthy of the Chicago Tribune. As a resident of the Windy City (and with Outfit indictments just freshly handed out), the book gains a lot of credibility (if it lacked it in the first place). It's an entertaining read and I see parallels between yesterday's outfit and present politics and violence on the streets today. Worth a read no matter what your stance on crime is. Definitely pick this one up!

Without a doubt the best book I've read in a while...

Russo did a heck of a job. This book brings you up from the earliest Chicago Underworld to Capone's Syndicate and the bulk of the book is devoted to the Outfit comprised of primarily Ricca, Humphreys and Accardo. Definitely worth reading, it kept me riveted and rest assuredly that I'm passing this book on to the rest of my family to read. Another point of interest was that this book doesn't just glorify 'the life', it explains it and puts the underworld in perspective with the accompanying upperworld (white-collar criminals, all of 'em). A book that will give you pause and make you want to read it all over again!

    A Mafia Masterpiece

Gus Russo takes painstaking measures to ensure that this book includes everything down to the tiniest details of the Chicago Mob. Unbeknowsnt to many, Russo informs the reader of the hidden power of Chicago and how it extended to both sides of the country. Russo also uncovers a lot of new information that had previously not even been released to the public making this book extremely up to date. Lastly, the book is written in a smooth style that keeps you turning page after page. Run, don't walk, to buy this book.
