The Red Pyramid Graphic Novel is another great way for children to enjoy Rick Riordans Kane Chronicles. This book is beautifully illustrated by Orpheus Collar, and brings the first part of the series to life. This graphic novel is a wonderful way for children who may struggle with the written novel, follow along easily and enjoy. The Red Pyramid starts the series off with siblings Sadie and Carter Kane trying to put together the mysteries of their mother’s tragic death and their father’s bizarre secrets. Even though the story is unusual and fantastic, the protagonists are rounded and relatable; but not without their own extraordinary traits. The supporting characters range from the ordinary to the unique; a shape shifting cat and a baboon that wears a Lakers jersey. Fearsome villains and mythical beasts round out the story and give it excitement that keeps the reader wanting to turn the page to see what happens next. Full of Egyptian mythology and history, words and symbols this book would also be great for anyone interested in Egyptian culture and mythos, even adults.
