Do you ever read a book and want to throw it across the room at the end of it? This book would have gone flying if it wasn’t for the fact that it was an ebook copy and that would have meant I would of have to throw my precious e-reader.

Now I know you’re asking yourself, Why? Why, throw a perfectly good book? What did that book ever do to you?

Why? WHY!?!? … I’ll tell you why. The ending pissed me off so much that I just wanted to chuck it. Stupid effin cliff hanger… I know that it’s a series but really, that’s where you’re going to end it Cathy. Right there, you couldn’t have gone on just a little bit further. AAAARRRGGGHHHHH…..

I was so mad at the ending , that when I sat down to write this review I realized that my brain had thrown up a big blinking sign that said “STUPID %&$*@* ENDING!!!” I actually reread the book just so I could write a semi coherent review. You know what, I loved the book the second time just as much as the first time I read it. That says a lot for a book as I typically don’t reread many.

I have fallen completely in love with this series. As I wrote in my review of the first in the series, Maxwell’s writing is superb. She just pulls you in and you are thrown headfirst into her world. The fullness of her writing style is even better in this second one. You really do feel that you are right there with her characters, feeling every pain they feel, each soft caress, the hardness of…. okay so I’m getting off track.

Harry is now clean and sober and on the path of finding a cure for the Chattan Curse. He has ended up in Scotland to try to find something of Fenella that will help. That is where he meets Portia. She is trying to keep her family from falling from society. She meets Harry after posing as a witch to try and earn some money for her family. Unbeknownst to them other forces are at play and sparks begin to fly. As the story progresses….
You know what; I keep writing and erasing this review. I can’t seem to talk about the story without giving too much away. There are some great bits in this one that add to the overall Chattan story line that are just too juicy to spill. So you know what, I’m not even going to try to keep this up.
I enjoyed this book, I loved the characters and the story. Go read it. Oh and just so you know, the next one comes out in May 2013!

I am all for--and even enjoy and look forward to!--books that focus on siblings as main characters in a next book in a series, but I won't read the next one in this series for fear the next book will also be a cliffhanger. So disappointing.

    Another Great Book

I just finished book 2 of this trilogy, and loved it. I don't think it can stand alone, must read the series to understand the cross over character's, even though the author does a great job with a back story. I loved the character's of Harry and Portia and how they came together. Alittle sex, but not the erotic kind, just enough description. Off to book 3 and hope I can keep ,myself from reading the ending, the suspense is killing me! This book ends with a. Cliffhanger, so you need to read book 3. (Ljb)

    Ecellent

This was another fantastic second book in the Chattan Curse trilogy. I'm glad I started reading these books later, so I could read all three together. On to the third one The Devil's Heart.

Can I trust you as much as I love you?

Lady Margaret Cattan went to find Heath Macnachtan looking for a grand fight.  She was the last hope
her brothers had to break the curse that was taking their lives away.  The hope that the curse only affected the
males in her family gave her confidence but the force that was set up to stop her was a powerful one reaching
     out from beyond the grave.
Heath came to Margaret’s rescue when the first disaster struck but her tales of a book of spells, revenge
from a ghost, and reincarnated cats is not something he chooses to believe in.  Heath is trying to keep his
family estate intact and clean up the financial mess his late brother left him.  Margaret tells a very convincing
story and draws Heath into her web of curses that besiege her family.  But it may be Margaret that is drawing
him in not what she is talking about as the more he thinks about her the more he wants to embrace her.
When Heath chooses to help Margaret find the answer that will save her brothers, he starts to wonder where
the real danger lies for him.

What Margaret has to convince Heath is that there is more than what his eyes behold in front of him.
The journey they must take to solve the plight upon her family requires belief that all things are possible
and the answer is right in front of you whether you see it or not.

An explosive end to an engrossing series that has kept me hooked from the first word in
book one to the last sentence of book three
