If you find this read to be anyless than in-depth and insightful...

If you found this read any less than in-depth and insightfl then you are unable to understand the diction involved! This book goes into the physche, mind and frustrations that each detective and chief had to struggle through into trying to find this menacing serial killer. It is a step by step account of the the time, effort, and compassion that each investigator put into trying to solve this ellusive killers identity.

    Follows Police activities closely

This book was a good read, but mainly follows the police activities during the Green River murders. This is understandable because the murders were not solved prior to it's original publishing. It does include updates after the killer was caught, which are very nice. Overall, it's a very comprehensive collection of events and details from the perspective of the police.

    Factoids a little off

I read this book before they actually found out who the Green River Killer was. This book is quite gory in its details, and it doesn't spare the families of victims any respect. I was quite disappointed in it.

    Comprehensive, informative, chilly!

I've literally read dozens of true-crime books and this is one of the best written. Without going into how great it was, let me just tell you about something that had me thinking especially in view of what happened many years later when Ridgway was finally caught. At one point in the book, the author (almost as in passing) mentions someone the police suspect. His name is not mentioned (in keeping with police procedure not to mention current suspects by name) but his occupation is: a truck painter. This little piece of information itself takes up probably a sentence in length. He's never mentioned again. But it kept nagging and nagging away at me. I'm sure the author thought nothing of it. I'm sure he wasn't aware of the significance of this suspect. Then, at least a year later I read on the internet that Ridgway had been arrested as being the Green River killer. At which point, I only had one Question: what was his occupation? Could this have been the suspect that the authors so nonchalantly mentioned back when the book was written? And, guess what?, he was a truck painter!! And the rest is history.

    bad writing

I was more than disappointed to realize that the reason the author's name looked familiar is because I read another one of his books that was also written poorly. This book does not at all do the victims justice, and Gary Ridgway has since confessed. The best part of the book to me was reading about the number of times police came in contact with the killer and how he kept on killing.

They needed to check their facts first

Everything written about my family in the book was either untrue or distorted. They also seemed to enjoy dragging out the 'gory' details.
