    Surprises around every corner!!

The Shadow of Tiamat is the book of the year. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. Just when I thought I had the book figured out and the extremely hot dragons figured out the Mr. Poindexter would put another surprise in the book. These are not just any ordinary surprises either, they are ones that make you want to go back and say "really?" I can not wait for the next book.

    Excellent book!

If you like modern fantasy, you'll love this book. Dragons, vampires and more, and it's none of that Twilight sparkly crap. This book is meant for adults, so don't buy it for younger kids! Plenty of action, plenty of romance, it's got something that'll appeal to guys and girls alike. Seriously, though, give this book a try. You won't regret it.

Excellent writing and hot dragons..what more can you ask for?

I loved this book. The author does a great job describing the fight scenes, sex scenes as well as the details of the dragons. To the point you can easily envision them right in front of you. I experienced several emotions while reading this book, I love it when an author is able to do that; makes putting the book down very hard. And I'm still waiting on my very own Garrett!

First and foremost, fantasy fiction is typically not my genre of choice. It takes an astounding fantasy to grab my attention. I am a fervent bibliophile, and my standards are high. :)

This was a great adult fantasy. It isn't the sappy or cheesy fantasy that is too common. It has depth and substance. The most profound aspect of this book/series, is that the characters are *so* well developed. They have a humanness, a realness, that stands out. They are not stilted or fictional. There is a natural chemistry between each character, within each relationship. They are alive and living. I found myself caring about what happens to them and what will happen. There are strong emotions that play out throughout, and the reader can't help but be pulled into it. This is rare to find in a fantasy novel, and it has been years since I have read one such as this.

As other reviews have probably pointed out, there *are* some really hot adult scenes. They are not trashy, or smutty. On the contrary they are very poetic, and nicely written. Again there is a naturalness to the flow. It is not forced. The scenes were not too vague nor too explicit. The writer really struck that perfect middle ground. And even more so, behind these scenes, there is a deep romance which happens. A romance that I find myself really falling into! I feel the love and connection between the two main characters, and most of all, even desiring to have such a beautiful relationship in real life. It is downright romantic. That is when you *know* the writer has captured your emotions. So it isn't random hot scenes, no, there is a strong passionate romance. In my opinion, that is the heart of the book, the romance and passion. One that has me eager to read the next in this series.

The plot is intriguing. One might ponder what can be done with dragons, or how can it be done well, and honestly, it was done well. It was neither too fantastical nor too dull. It is fantasy. There are mythical creatures. But it still remains real and well grounded. I don't want to reveal too much of the plot. The characters introduced are colorful, well developed, and the reader is left curious and fascinated to discover more about this or that character. In other words, as a reader, I am left wondering what happens next. Even the "villains", are not so villainous that you cannot relate, but perhaps can even see from their point of view. This always makes reading far more intriguing. The action scenes are also well done. The reader is able to follow them well, and fully appreciate the brutal fierceness behind it.

Overall, I strongly suggest this book. All types can really sink their teeth into it. Whether you like the hotness, the romance, the action, or the fantasy. It is all there. The writing is fluent, living, and highly engaging. I finished the book in just a few days because I was that drawn into it. I am definitely looking forward to the next in the series.

    --sincerely,
    Natasha

    Blessed and still impressed...

I was lucky enough to be introduced to The Shadow of Tiamat early on and to watch the magic happen. Why do I tell you this? It is simple, I want you to know that this book and those to come are well worth the time and money you'll spend adding them to your collection so that you can read them over and over. Even though I was a beta reader of this book prior to publication it was still my first purchase on my new eReader.

The well-developed characters draw you into a setting so rich that you feel like you are there and if you're from the area it leaves you wondering how you've never wandered into Scorch Hollow. Without saying too much, I will say that I find it refreshing each time I find a book that evokes a myriad of emotions and reminds me that I shouldn't judge anyone, not even a story book character, by my first (or even second) impression and this book does that each time I read it.
