Awful

Like reading the MTV version of Greek mythology. Very disappointed. Stopped after 50 pages.

Although I enjoy Greek mythology I was surprised by the homosexual content and would have been better without some of those details. I would not recommend this for children under the age of 16.

Be warned, this book is not what you might think. While the book speaks of the Trojan War and the events surrounding it, the war is little more than a backdrop for the story. This is love story, through and through. If you like your Achilles gay and homosexual love scenes between teenage boys, this is definitely the book for you. While the book is well written, it does take some definite liberties with the original story of the Iliad. There is definitely a distinct female voice, so if that's not your style, don't waste your time. I did finish the book and found parts of it engaging, but overall I did not enjoy it.

    Not worth the money

This book was a disappointment. You definitely could tell it was written by a woman who was concerned with conveying the sexuality of Achilles in his relationship with his cousin/lover Patroclus. This aspect was too over-emphasized in parts to the detriment of the entire story. I get trying to convey the relationships but it seemed she took what could have been viewed as teenage experimentation that allowed for a closer kinship as adults to be put to the extreme.
