McKinley in Presidential top 10
The last president to expand the territory of the U.S. and the first modern president. He understood how to stick to a theme of the day and assertively get the press to get people behind him. He was better than Wilson at getting international treaties ratified. Even though he was in command, he knew how to get congress involved in his success. He understood the need for a canal through the middle of the American continent, and picked a Vice President (TR) who followed up on his plans, even though TR did it more as a blowhard with less people skills than WM. William McKinley made the U.S. a united hemisphere and world power in a more compassionate and respectful way than ruthless thugs like Spain. Was this review helpful?
