    Do not waste ur money

Plot line was weak and not very plausiable. And nobody cares about Anna and her baggage through out the story. Finally i really dont think that the readers need page after page of mind numbing wedding details for Patrick and Erica. This book was a HUGE disappointment. I will not be purchasing more of her books in the future

    Wonderful!!

Camilla Lackberg has the unique ability to introduce a character one initially does not like, or finds annoying, and in subsequent books makes them more human and they turn out to be people to like! Her regular characters are unforgettable, and the mysteries are well plotted and the books are tough to put down. She has three more after 'The Stranger' but they are not available as e books yet, so I ordered the paperbacks for myself from the Isle of Guernsey! She is a new favorite author for me.

Unlike some other Scandinavian authors, Camilla Lackberg¿s prota

Unlike some other Scandinavian authors, Camilla Lackberg’s protagonist, Detective Patrik Hedstrom, is a relatively normal person, about to be married and living with Erica and their baby girl, surreptitiously running the small police station in a little western coastal town in Sweden, Fjallbacka nominally headed by a superior. Three things happen in the town to set off a wide-ranging investigation.

First, Fjallbacka is invaded by a reality television show, with all the attendant problems and a cast motivated to drink, have sex and act in public to excess. And then, there is a local woman, known to abhor alcohol, who dies in a car crash with a blood level containing enormously high levels of alcohol. Then one night, after a drunken orgy, one of the contestants on the show is found murdered. Plenty to keep Patrik and his team occupied with few leads and plenty of questions.

This is the fourth novel published by the author in the United States, and each has been consistently high quality, well-plotted, carefully translated and well written Perhaps most importantly, the characters are natural, every-day type of people, living typical lives and working hard. The plots move forward with logic, and the loose ends come together at the end smoothly. (It should perhaps be noted that this book was originally published in the UK and Canada under the title “The Gallows Bird.”) Highly recommended.

    Highly recommended

I have read all of her books that have been translated. You get to know more about the characters throughout the differnt books. Lots of twists and turns. Always a surprise at the end!!
