Loved this book!
I first read an excerpt from this book in Reader's Digest while it was still being published for people who read. I bought the book and ran through a boy's first difficult year with his foster family from the point of view of the patriarch of the family, the author. It includes anecdotes, and the journey from decided to take in a foster child to the indidual struggles that Mike faces. It is honest, painful, and moving. I read it whenever I get scared about being a parent, because the tale of trials and patience is one that still occasionally makes me cry. The parents of five adult children take in an emotional abused boy and try to give him the thing he wants most: a family. I highly recommend it.
