THE TRUTH ABOUT GARDEN REMEDIES packs a lot of information in less than 200 pages. Author Jeff Gillman works his way through an impressive list of home remedies. In each case, he checks whether these not necessarily tried and true treatments do what they should. And the results are surprising! For sometimes the remedies are oldies but goodies, sometimes not. But in every instance he makes it clear what the particular remedy is supposed to do, whether that's met, and what to do instead. Something I find particularly helpful is his emphasis on the back-up measures to standard commercial remedies. For standard commercial remedies tend to have labels with specific instructions, and toll-free numbers to call in case of problems.
