    A little too predictable

    I would give this 2.5 if I could. I didn't dislike the book but didn't really like it either. Unlike the foreward suggests, these were not your normal next door kids. At least I hope not. Deeply disturbed, misunderstood from the beginning and subjected to rather predictable bad parenting, incompetant teachers or religious zealots, their behavior was expected. So, the ending for each one was also predictable. It just left me feeling sad.

    Good

    First published in 1959. This novella had me thinking Stephen King. Pretty good. Was worth the 99¿.

    A good story in the end. Kind of hard to get into in the begining. Picks up toward the middle.

    This was an interesting book. Shows how kids can be pushed to murder, sometimes over the silliest things.

    Loosely Linked Trio of Bad Parenting Misfortunes.

    Very much of its time, reminiscent of 'Rebel Without a Cause,"
    disturbed children are the twisted product of bad parenting.
    That said, hard to put down once you start reading.
