I really enjoyed Joanna Fulford's first novel, 'The Viking's Def

I really enjoyed Joanna Fulford's first novel, 'The Viking's Defiant Bride,' so when I saw the hero's name, Wulfgar, I wondered if the story was about the son. Despite some initial hesitation - I didn't want the 'tragedy' to be about Wulfrum and Elgiva, Wulfgar's parents and to my immense relief, it wasn't - I picked it up, and boy, Ms. Fulford did not disappoint. The story is set nearly thirty years later, shortly after the Danelaw was established, and the world is still a dangerous place, especially for a beautiful widow with rich holdings. Wulfgar has grown up to be a son worthy of his father, and Anwyn is a strong, mature woman who survived her abusive marriage. Together, they overcome a powerful and treacherous suitor, her unfeeling family, and his haunted memories. It was also nice to read about the still happy marriage between Wulfrum and Elgiva. Thumbs up.
