Santana's set at Woodstock was highlighted by "Soul Sacrifice". As a matter of fact, it was one of the highlights of the entire festival. The rest of the band's two recorded sets are no disappointment. Santana was unheard of at the time and was booked into Woodstock because they were managed by festival co-producer Bill Graham. The band was cutting new ground with it's synthesis of rock, blues, latin and soul music, and it was an exciting and energetic sound. As a long time devotee of Santana's various incarnations, I am delighted with this comprehensive package of the band's Woodstock performance. The band later went through many versions, some of which were not so great, but here is where is all started when the band was young, fresh and empowered. If you even remotely like vintage Santana, you'll want to own these two CD's.
