Encyclopedic Survey of Yoga
I couldn't disagree with the previous reviewer more. This book is a treasure of knowledge. It is only "hard to understand" if you don't dedicate time and patience to it. The same time and patience that yoga practice demands.
That said, this isn't a general introductory book to Yoga philosophy, history and practice (could there be such a thing?). There is a lot of information within this tome and is a reference book that a person will return to again and again over the span of years rather than devour over a weekend.
I couldn't recommend it more to the serious yogi or yogini.

Hard to read
The author is very smart and knows what he's talking about when it comes to yoga, but this book is very hard to read! Nothing is put in laymans terms so it may be hard to follow for some people. Myself being one of them! I couldn't get through the introduction let alone an entire chapter of this book. I would suggest reading a couple pages before buying this book to see if you can understand.
