    Sophisticated and Unique

I've read (and enjoyed) just about every popular YA vampire series on the market (Twilight, Vampire Diaries, Morganville, House of Night . get the picture?) and Thirst is my absolute favorite-no contest. Sita is a five-thousand year old vampire, so while she has never been one to chew on bubblegum social issues, her struggle to find personal and spiritual maturity will intrigue any deep-thinking teenager (or adult, for that matter).

The Thirst series doesn't waste time. This vampire's storytelling is concise, always suspenseful, heartfelt and a little ironic. Thirst No. 2 opens with Sita discovering she's human once again. With this she realizes her opportunity to create a child. A blessing that soon becomes a fast-paced nightmare-because after all, once a vampire, always a vampire. Her baby is born thirsty, and Sita's destiny, it seems, is to always be the hunter who is hunted. Without spoiling the wonders of this story, know this: the birth of Sita's child propels her toward a profound understanding of her life, opens her up to an inspired last adventure (a journey into her past!) and ultimately gifts her with an ending that is astonishing and poetic.

Once the final pages have turned, I guarantee you'll miss her. Sita is a vampire unlike any other. And frankly, if I could have my way she would tell the stories of her long life forever. And ever.

    Funny thing about this one...

Thirst No 1 and 2 are compiled novels originally released in 1994. They were just released again due to renewed interest by teens in vampire fiction. What I love about these books is that they are both more original, thrilling, emotional and symbolic than any vampire novel in circulation today. The entire series truly puts Twilight to shame. Sita is a dangerous 5,000 year old murderer but at the end I felt like she was my sister. I would love to read more of Sita's adventures in the past, much like the excerpts throughout Thirst 1 and 2, but full length novels. I highly recommend these books for older readers (20s) who remember reading thrillers by Christopher Pike or R.L. Stine as young teenagers. That is probably the best market for Sita, as she will be well understood by a more mature audience. Overall, I highly suggest reading these books, they are wonderful and unique and well worth your time.

If you are a Christian and Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ do not read!!!!

I know what you all are thinking, I did read book 1 and enjoyed it. But when I got to book 2 my opinion of the author and the book it self has went very low. I did not enjoy at all the fact through out the whole book their talking about Hindu gods...I did not enjoy the fact that you put down a GREAT man by calling him SIMPLE!!!!

This book is a disgrace and a slap in the face to all christians!!!

SO please do not read!!! Very disappointing!!!!

    Not what you'd expect

Christopher Pike is my favorite author. I grew up reading his books, and even now as I read "Season of Passage" he continues to surprise me in every single one of his books.

This series is no different. This is not your trendy Vampire book for teenagers. Unlike other teen-geared, vampire series, Pike's "Last Vampire" series does highlight how scary these creatures are... that's the point, right? Vampires are alluring, yet scary.

I would say my favorite part of the series is the history Pike gives his main character. When I read this for the first time, at 16, the one thing I took away from this series was some of the questions the main character ponders... In a society where everyone chases after eternal youth and beauty... is it really worth it? Does eternal youth and beauty add any value to life at all?

Anyway. Just what I think. But if you're looking for a trendy, "Twilight" - ish vampire series... you might be a bit disappointed here. But don't sell yourself short, this series is one great read.

    Entertaining

Alisa is a 5000 year old vampire who's creator has come back to hunt her. She falls in love with Ray (a human) and has to risk everything to protect her love from the man that created her. The story was a little slow paced and I had a hard time with how Alisa supposedly loved Ray, but she is still detatched and their connection just never feels real. Overall, the book was entertaining, but not something I would re-read.

A very odd and poorly written book

Honestly, you shouldn't waste your money. I really only read this second book for laughs, which it readily provided. It seemed that the author wanted to capitulate on the vampire trend and finished this one up at a drinking party. Plenty of violence and naval-gazing, and I'm sure this book will appeal to some people. The "plot"- Sita wants to have a baby and so...she...has a baby takes some pretty laughable turns (Spoiler alert: Sita 'imagines' a lover of hers comes back from the dead). The final story seemed to have been taken from a completely different book and tacked on for length. Take the silliness of Thirst #1 and double it for this hot vampire mess.

    Don't like creatures of forever

I read the first thirst book and fell in love with it. It was amazing ! But when I got to the Creatures of Forever part I was so confused! The first two parts were really amazing and I loved everything about them but that last part confused me about her destiny and being between time. For me it really threw me off and even though I still love the book, I wish that part of the book was better explained. But aside from that the rest of the book is incredible and it'll be really hard to stop reading. :)

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Anyone posting a bad review of this book is not reading for the simple joy and entertainment that reading provides. This book is a fantastic piece of FICTION (I highlight this for those who have posts with such remarks as "aliens?, really?"), meant to help you escape into a new world, not like our own. I would recommend this book to anyone. I could not put this book down! I find myself searching for a filler as I await the release of the newest installment in August. The writing style is unique and easy to read while the subject matter is modern and intriguing.

a pretty weird spin on a supposedly popular genre

So the only reason I read this book is because my mother brought it home, and first of all, I have no clue why it's in the YA section. Yeah most of it is okay, but there are certain parts that dont belong in YA literature, like Eddie and his mother. Secondly, I hate the style the author uses. For the first half of the book that was all I could think about was the perspective. Third, there are 3 parts and after the 1st 2 its feels like it's being dragged out. The one thing I did like was how he tied the last part back to her past. I definitly wont be reading the next book in the series and will most likely be staying away from this author.

Update: So apparently b&n doesnt have a dlt feature: this review was suppose to be on the 1st book, but i was on the wrong page and didnt verify before i hit submit, so srry.

    Disappointing

I read Thirst No. 1 and wanted to see how it played out. I bought Thirst No. 2 and was severly disappointed. Aliens...really??? So totally stupid. Come on! It had potential, I'll give it that much, but it went in an odd direction. I wasn't feeling it at all!

    HORRABLE HORRABLE HORRABLE!!!!

UGHHHHH!!!! this book was a complete and total disappointment! The first book was amazing and the 2nd was pretty good too........... until the ending. the end ruined the whole book. when i look at the cover now all i want to do is barf!!! Not only did Joel die which is who i wanted Sita to be with she proceeded to go back in time, kill yaksha before he was born so there were no vampires and make sure she never exhisted in the future. Plus, when Joel died i thot oh okay Sita and Seymour will finally get together with i thot would be nice and cute.... BUT instead of finally getting the love of his life seymour gets to die of aids because Sita didnt exist so she never cured him. he dies reading his story of her in his bed with like fluid in his lungs er something. it is incredibly horrible and sad. i was depressed for 2 weeks after i read it and couldnt get the disapointment and crappy ending out of my mind!

    Fun, exciting and quick read!

I recently discovered the Thirst series due to my mother. I love how the books are not predictable. The ending is almost always never guessable as far as the villan. I love how Sita's character in the book is a no nonsense kind of girl that can kick some serious butt! I am excited to read the next book although I'm not sure how it will pick up based on the ending of this book.

I reccommend this book to all readers that enjoy vampire series but that are looking for something out of the ordinary. Christopher Pike's series is like no other!

    Sita, The Last Vampire.

Like many others, I read Thirst 1 before this novel and fell in love with the main charater, Sita. Christopher Pike writes a thrilling historical story of a women vampire who goes through hell and back throughout her lifetime. I'm a fan of a good vampire tale but this story far beats Twilight and many others. The characters are well developed and the story has meaning and merit. I recommend it to any SciFi lover. And look out for Thirst 3, it comes out in October, I can't wait.
