Timmy Failure is a book about a boy with the same name who runs a detective agency with his pet polar bear, Total. He thinks that he is a really great private investigator with excellent problem solving skills, but he is always getting into trouble and never solving any of his clients’ mysteries. He’s also doing poorly in school, so basically he is a “total failure” at everything that he does, which just so happens to be the name of his business; The Total Failure Detective Agency. His best friend, Rollo, tries to help him in school and in solving his cases, but Timmy never takes any of his advice. His arch nemesis, Corrina Corrina, also runs a detective agency, and she does a much better job at it.
My favorite part of the book is when Timmy uses his mom’s Segway without permission and he must get it back before she realizes it’s gone. Instead of just telling her the truth, he comes up with some crazy, and funny, ways to try to find it and bring it home.
This book is filled with lots of puns, plays on words, and hilarious situations that kids would find laugh out loud funny! Its humor reminds me of Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I laughed a lot while reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves silly humor!
I give this book 4 and a half stars because Timmy used the word idiot to describe his best friend.
The book earns a big happy face!
I liked Timmy Failure and Rollo!

Funny book-some dark humor for children

Love Stephan Pastis' comic strip. As an adult, enjoyed the 50 pages I read before giving it as a gift to my grandson. But some of the attempts at humor remind me of many of the rat character's humor in the comic strip--which is to pick on others. Not sure I want to encourage that needlessly. I may send a review again when I get his take on it but if I had not promised him it was coming, I might not have handed it over.
