This is often hailed as a classic, but I can't say it's my favourite Tintin. I think it's spoilt by sentimentality-not too much, but enough to grate on your nerves after a while. While the Captain (as always) is terrific, I miss the cast of eccentrics that usually mill around him and Tintin-since the boy-reporter is a somewhat wooden character, he needs lively, colourful people to interact with. And I was never very keen on Chang, so risking your life to save him seems something of a waste.
