A NEW FAVORITE BOOK!
I received 'To Say nothing of the Dog' as a Christmas present in 1999,and have read the book six times since then - and every time I read it, I catch something I missed before. Connie Willis's wonderful tribute to Jerome K. Jerome's, 'Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog)' is at once a mystery, a love story, and an hilarious read. An intricate plot, characters you care about, and laugh-out-loud lines make this a book you'll want to read again, too. It has become my favorite novel - and I read a lot! After reading this I read Connie Willis's other five novels and was surprised to find they weren't all comedies - I was fooled by the ease with which she makes 'To Say Nothing of the Dog' so funny. Not many people could write a tribute to a classic comedy book and surpass it - but Ms. Willis does that with ridiculous ease. She is the Fred Astaire of writers - she makes the nearly impossible look effortless. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
