Not Up To the Old Hemlock Falls Status :(

Was thrilled to see another installment of the Hemlock Falls Series. I have read the past 15 and loved them. Ms. Bishop seemed to get busy with other venues and I was afraid that #15 was the end of the road for Quill and Meg. But after reading "Toast Mortem" unfortunately it just fell short of the delightful series I so enjoyed. Quill's life now is that of a mother first with innkeeper/sleuth just not the same level it once was. Meg is still sock predictable and a handful, but does not have the edge she once drove everyone crazy with. Myles is still off doing his private security thing, making a last page appearance to end the story with an ahhhhh. The plot was just too predictable, the characters were not the normal level to really care about, and it just seemed "bland". Hate to be so negative, since I loved the 15 prior books. Don't know what happened here. If you read this and have the same opinion, don't give up, go back to the start of the series for I am sure you will be glad you did. Maybe the next one will be up to the old standards. Sure hope so.
