History of Detroit's Black Community and hometown hero Joe Louis
This book is about Sunny Wilson, longtime businessman, promoter in the African American community of Detroit, and unofficial ambassador to Detroit from 1930-1998. Sunny was a long time friend of boxer Joe Louis and band leader Duke Ellington among others and has an interesting first hand account of what times were like in Black Detroit prior to integration and how some things are better and some worse in the community since then. A lot of historical info about Joe Louis,Black areas of Detroit,Detroit riots of 1945,Jazz musicians in the city etc. The book is primarily written in Sunny's own words.
