Great for both fans and scholars!
I've had Anne Petty's lst book since the 80's, but this new one is so much more readable. It covers the big themes in Tolkien with a lot of knowledge and humor. Yes, humor in a scholarly book. But also I agreed with the great sadness anybody who reads Tolkien will feel about the fading of magic. I think that's what I liked best - the author's own voice comes through and I loved her take on things like trying to figure out who is the real hero of LOTR. A great read for any Tolkien fan!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
