    more from this reviewer

A fun, energetic read for fans of the Military Fiction Genre

I bought H.A.W.X. because I loved the video game series, and the book fits along very nicely with the first game in the series. The story is not really at all the same, outside of the fact that there is a Military Contractor that tries to take over the world.

The story was easy to follow, and perhaps a little shallow and predictable, but still very good. There was plenty of action, a bit of romance, and even some sadness built into the story. Definitely worth the time for a fan of the H.A.W.X. series and/or military fiction stories.

    Somewhat interesting, but flawed.

I will never know how this ends as I'm throwing the book away just as I begin chapter 30. As an airline pilot, I keep noticing mistakes about the flying aspects of this book and was trying to ignore them. The first paragraph of chapter thirty describes how the stories hero joined a "flight path", "the highway in the sky that was traveled by commercial flights". Wrong. They are called "Jet airways" or "low altitude routes" for, well, low altitude. How much research does it take to find such basic info? Where was the editor? If you write about flying, have someone that knows something, anything about it check your "facts". I don't expect to read a book on cars written by someone who has never heard of Henry Ford.
Others have said the story jumps and seems to be written by a high school grad. I was trying to overlook that too as the basic story had my interest. The basics presented as facts should be somewhat accurate though. By the way David Michaels, thunderstorms can get up to 60,000 ft but normally are at least up to mid 20,000. Do some research.
Some may be able to overlook these glaring mistakes, I tried. Now it's to the recycle bin, unfinished.

    Wow...

I know this author wrote with Tom Clancy before, but did he really have to use his name when he didn't even participate? No wonder why it was so different.

Good read for the HAWX fans

The book can get pretty slow at times..but keeps you interested. I'd like to see more arial dogfights and bombing runs. And do a lot more on HAWX. Troy doesn't even get into the HAWX program until 3/4 in the book. But it was def worth the $$
