This book was by far the best book in the series so far. Written by a different author under the same pseudonym, delivers a more realistic, action packed, and detailed story than the previous books. I felt as though Sam Fisher was the bad-a that he's supposed to be than the last books. I read this book in 2 days because I could't put it down.

    Far beyond the first two

First, like everyone else in the world, i love the new third person view of Fisher. And really, did Micheals go a writing class or something, because everything is written so much better, from dialogue,, to action, to the realization that you don't need swears every line to keep you interested. The only reason that i gave this a four is that there were several gramatical errors, but it isn't enough to take away from the experience.

    A good continuation

A very good third installment in the series. The only thing i didnt like was that the Fisher parts of he novel are no longer in first person; that was what made his character that much more close to the reader

    Better and worse

I am a huge fan of splinter cell and i have been since the games came out. my thoughts on checkmate were that it had a quite amazingly plot and the action beat the other two books by miles. however the gramatical errors made it a somewhat difficult read at times. i like the third person but i wouldn't mind figuring out more of whats going on in Fishers head. all and all good job i can't wait for fall out.

    Different Writing

This book was very good. It's basically a non-stop action covert operation and this is the reason why it kept me wanting to read more. I miss the first-person writing and I also miss the beginning action introduction when he says, 'My name is Sam Fisher. And I am a Splinter Cell.' That was missed in this book, but I can't wait for the 4th novel to come out in December. Keep writing these books please!

Not bad at all, but full of spelling and grammar errors

I liked this story and it was a pleasant read poolside on a recent vacation, but I was distracted with the spelling/grammar errors. Too bad it wasn't proofread before printing! Nevertheless, it was a good adventure and makes me want to play the game, which was the intention.
