Can't wait for book 3!!

OMG OMG!!!! I may just be falling in love with JL Bryan! he has such a great talent for combining humor, love, horror and suspense! one of my favorite parts in the book was Ashleigh's takeover of Darcy I found myself laughing out loud a lot! especially at the comments she would make to Darcy's family ex. "because that's where I like it right in the butthole." Ashleigh continues to make Jenny and Seth's life a living hell, in some pretty ingenious ways. We also get to meet a few new characters all of which I found to be extremely likeable even Tommy the dim witted bad boy!. I was thoroughly impressed by the sequel and the unexpected ending and find myself eagerly awaiting the followup!

Fantastic sequel to Jenny Pox!

Anyone who follows me knows that I am an avid J.L. Bryan fan, and that certainly hasn't changed with this book, In Jenny Pox, the story ends with a unexpected twist that only just begins to explain Jenny and her strange gift, leading straight into Tommy Nightmare. This books begins immediately following the conclusion of the first, so there is no missing time or vagueness before getting into the story. I hesitate tp talk too much about the actual plot for fear of spoilers, but I will say that the entire concept of it is very unique and enthralling. Many of the characters from the first are back for the second, with the addition of three new characters with extraordinary gifts.

The point of view switched from character to character throughout the story with ease and it added so much to the story. All of them were very well-developed with just enough of their backstories created to explain them as the kind of people they were in the framework of the story. I like Bryan's characters because none of them are purely good or evil. Some are basically good people who do questionable things. Others are clearly not so good, but do good things, at least in the moment. It makes for interesting characters that really keep the story moving and engrossing.

I absolutely loved the first book, and questioned whether or not it was going to be possible to top that. Tommy Nightmare took the story to the next level. I forsee an epic battle in the next installment, due out in the fall of 2011. I like a story that brings me into it so much that I dream about it!! If you haven't read Jenny Pox, then I would definately suggest reading it first because much of this great story would be lost. But I trully recommend both of these books. I personally can't wait for the next Jenny Pox book!

Wonderful! Best yet!

A great sequel to the first Jenny Pox! Its wonderful to get to know more charecters like jenny and Seth. I totally recommend this book, you have to read it! I so cant wait till fall to read the third book when it comes out.

omg so good

sooo much more exciting than jenny pox! more reincarnated characters and more about their past! i can not wait till the 3rd book! please come out soon i was soo sad how the story left me hanging....but happy to know theres another coming!

Great Book!

I thought that this book was an excellent sequel to jenny pox and so much better than the first one of the series(which I adored). I wouldn't really recommend this series for anyone under the age of sixteen, for some mature content but over all it was an excellent book.

Jenny ended the last book with a bang.  She thought that her tro

Jenny ended the last book with a bang.  She thought that her troubles were over, but it seems that created more enemies than friends.  If this series was a trilogy, this would be THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.  The villains are back with a vengeance and determined to tear Jenny apart from everyone she holds dear.

I wish there was more Tommy Nightmare in this book.  He’s such a fun and rebellious character.  I like how he does what he wants no matter the consequences.  His back story is really sad too!

I was so giddy reading the ending.  Tommy Nightmare had the best ending out of the three books.  I was totally not expecting what happened to happen.  Jenny spent most of the novel being the least interesting of all of the characters, but at the end…wow.  I want this new Jenny to stick around!  Particularly because of the certain someone she was with at the end.

The character Wooly seemed to pop out of nowhere midway through the book.  I liked him but I do wish that he was briefly mentioned in the early chapters.  What I didn’t like was Heather.  She had zero personality and felt more like a plot person than an actual person.  Since she is a relatively minor character and the personalities of the other characters are so well developed and unique, I didn’t knock off too much from the rating for her faults.

There are some discrepancies between book 2 and 3 that I mention in my review of Alexander Death.  I loved Tommy Nightmare but these small details could of easily be changed in this book, and allowed me to enjoy the 3rd book much more.  (A-)

In this novel we learn more about Jenny and her past lives and are introduced to some new characters that are like Jenny and have their own powers. I really enjoyed seeing the story unfold and was pretty surprised by the twist at the end. I loved the background that was revealed in this novel, can't wait to finish the next.

The Pox Thickens...

The second installment in the Jenny Pox series, Tommy Nightmare, is a wonderful dream come true. More Jenny, more Seth and more fantastic characters with unexpected powers.

This book picks up where Jenny Pox left off and as things return to normal (sort of) in Fallen Oak after the apoxalypse, new friends and enemies emerge. But how do you tell them apart? I don't know! That's what's great about this series. Just when I think I know something, I get slapped right in the face. This book series has it all: fascinating plot, fresh ideas, detailed characters, heart-wrenchingly sad moments, skin-crawlingly (is that a word?) spooky moments, intelligent dialogue, twists, turns and double parking. Love, love, love this series.

So, in the words of the famous Ninja Turtle, Raphael, "I do hope there's more o' them."

Highly Recommended

In Tommy Nightmare, we discover that Jenny, Seth and Ashleigh aren't the only people with powers. In fact, there are quite a few more people. When we're introduced to Tommy in the first chapter of the book, he's an innocent foster child, unaware of his abilities when an awful accident occurs. As traumatizing as this is for Tommy, J.L. Bryan makes this scene and many others just as cringing as he did in Jenny Pox. Growing older, Tommy sees a T.V. interview of Ashleigh Goodling, Jenny's arch enemy, and suddenly he's feeling this pull to Ashleigh that he cannot get enough of.

On the other spectrum of things, Fallen Oak is a mess and forensics are everywhere trying to figure out what the heck happened to all these people. Meanwhile, Jenny is having constant flashbacks of her past lives as she continues to fight, accept and understand her abilities as more than hopefully a destructive weapon.

I was impressed once again with all of the unexpected places that J.L. Bryan took Tommy Nightmare. My only disappointment with this book was Jenny's relationship with her father. You see throughout Jenny Pox that they're close, not only due to being father/ daughter but because that's the only real human contact she has, but it's as if that connection is disengaged. It's sad, because I feel like much more could have been done with that bond. I was also surprised how small of a roll that Tommy actually played in the book. The beginning opens up with him and he is the start of a huge chain of events, but he isn't the main storyline. This isn't noted as bad thing about the book, just simply an observation. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as J.L. Bryan is definitely not afraid to put his characters through hell and back all for our pleasure and reading excitement. Tommy Nightmare proved to be a very worthy sequel to Jenny Pox.

Even better than the first

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Jenny Pox but did not plan to get sucked into reading an entire series of books. I seriously debated not buying this book. I was satisfied with the ending and had enough closure that I could just walk away. Then life happens (knee surgery) and I'm looking for a new book to read.

I could not have imagined where the storyline was going. I had a few ideas but luckily was wrong on all accounts. All of the main characters from the first book are back and we learn more about their personalities - and their pasts. Several new characters are brought in and the author manages to explore the depths of their personalities without weighing down the story.

I can't wait for the next book in the series. September 2011...sounds like a birthday present to me.

GETTING BETTER AND BETTER

I really love the story and it's an excellent sequel to Jenny Pox. I read it in one sitting as with the first book. JL Bryan is an excellent writer ands keeps the reader glued to the pages. The book has a good pace and tha action keeps going and going. I can't wait for the next book. I just hope, being the hopeless romantic that I'm that Seth and Jenny are meant for each other. Alexander sounds interesting but I can feel something sinister behind him. Maybe I am completely wrong so lets see how the story unfolds in the 3rd book. Fall cant come soon enough!!!

Excellent Book!!!

Excellent sequel to Jenney Pox. Now I can't wait for book # 3.I highly recommend this book, but must read Jenny Pox first. Love JL Bryan's books.

okay

i thought this book defenitly wasnt as good as the first and i was a little disapointed with the. especially when jenny ran away with alexander and left seth behind. (sorry bout the spoiler) i am hoping the 3rd book will be better.

Great read....

Tommy Nightmare is the second book of three in the Jenny Pox series. It opens right where the first book left off. It also introduces 3 new characters who all end up having intertwined pasts. The characters are well fleshed out and extremely believable. Theres so much going on in the book and to divulge any of it would be huge spoilers... suffice it to say a major villain from the first book finds their way back to taunt Jenny and Seth.
