Tongue in Chic (Fortune Hunter Series #2)

A very entertaining read

I admit to being very hesitate to reading these books. I'm more of a historical romance/ paranormal romance girl, but I love Christina Dodd and have read all her other books, so I figured why not. I immediately found myself intrigued by the story and couldn't put the book down. From the first line to the last I was in love.

Humor is Good

I enjoyed this book a lot, also enjoyed the first book in the series (Trouble in High Heels), and am looking forward to the next one. This is not a serious read, if you are looking for serious, don't pick this one up. However, if you are looking for something that is full of frivolity, and literally demands to be read on a summer day, this would be the book to pick up. The plot isn't serious? Come on folks, these are ROMANCE novels!!!! They are something you pick up to have a fun romp with, then put down with a laugh. This book defiantly ends with laughter.

A fun lighthearted satirical romp

On a mission from her grandmother, at midnight, Natalie Meadow Szarvas easily breaks into Waldemar, a Victorian home on the South Carolina coast searching for the last painting by Isabelle Benjamin done over fifty years ago. However, to her chagrin ,not only does she fail to find the masterpiece, the house¿s new owner Devlin Fitzwilliam arrogantly asks her what she is doing inside his home. She trips and bangs her head on a lion¿s head that wins the butting contest. Natalie assumes he will call police Devlin thinks a doctor is more in order. She says he cannot remember why she is here he counters her obvious lie by informing her she lives here as his wife.---------------- As each builds their webs of deceit, Natalie wonders why he would declare they are married while Devlin easily sees her resemblance to the Benjamin masterpiece. Their chess game continues even as both are falling in love with one another. However, neither fully understands the rules of the game because a lethal grandmaster watches in the shadows manipulating Natalie and Devlin expecting to win the prize even if that means killing this ¿married¿ couple.----------------- TONGUE IN CHIC lives up to its title as a fun lighthearted satirical romp that amusingly teases romantic mysteries. Natalie and Devlin are an amiable match as each tries to checkmate the other. Readers will enjoy their antics while also ironically knowing danger lurks from another interested person. Christine Dodd provides a terrific romantic suspense thriller that her fans will devour in one entertaining sitting.--------------- Harriet Klausner

I highly Recommend this book!!

This was a very injoyable read!! I did not want it to end...

Very easy read

This novel is great for a rainy day.
The characters entertain and the story flows at a nice pace. I didn't feel like the story was overdone or unbelievable. Worth the price, and will probaly read again some other rainy day.

Silly things happen between the sex scenes!!!

The events are unbelievable, the characters are cliched, and the dialogue is REALLY silly! I cannot imagine anyone actually thinking or speaking those sentences! Everything seems like a bunch of fluff to link together the steamy sex scenes! Clearly, the story took a literal backseat here!

Discombobulated and not worth your money

Dodd's historicals have been going down the tube. Nonetheless, I've liked her recent contemporary romances and was intrigued by the the story premise and the 'teaser' chapter that was presented before the release of this title. I bought it only to find out that Dodd's newer contemporaries are getting just as sloppy as the historical ones. The main characters slip into sexual scenes before the story has even developed yet there is little or no chemistry jumping off the pages. The rest of the cast are only that, a cast. They don't seem lifelike, the villains don't seem real and what is Sam doing back in the end of the story for a half a page but as possible set up to a (bad) sequel? Who is really writing this? Not the same Dodd as before surely. Maybe she retired and passed the laptop to a ghost writer? If not, maybe she should . . . . Borrow this book at the library if you absolutely must read it. I personally felt it wasn't worth the money and it certainly isn't worth my precious reading time . . .

Disappointing!

I have read all of Ms. Dodd's books, and I have to say this is the worst yet. This book started off as unbelievable and never developed a true plot...She breaks into his house, but instead of him calling the police he claims she is his wife and she goes along with this plot as if she doesn't have a mind of her own...It was a very disappointing read from one of my favorite authors.

Great storytelling!

One of the best I've read in the past year or so. I'm more of a fan of historical romance, but for Dodd I'll always make an exception. She never disappoints!

AWSOME

This book is one of the best books ive ever read from Christina Dodd and from any other writer. Its so free spirited, so enjoyable i read it in a couple of hours. Its the kind of book you hate beacause you just CAN'T put it down. I think Devlin is so devilishly sexy and Meadow is so sweet, you cant not like her. Its a very interesting, heartwarming and it has a message for everybody. Dont let life and love pass you by.
