    Very Exciting and Believable!

This is the second book I have read by Barclay and I enjoyed both of them very much. He seems to be able to come up with a different thrilling storyline. And his themes are believable, you could imagine them happening, maybe even to you! I hated putting this book down and it was a fast read as well. If you want some thrills and chills, Too Close To Home is for you.

Highly recommended - a must read!!

Linwood Barclay has become one of my favorite mystery writers. As with his other books this is a well written book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you turning to the next page. Barclay's writing style is engaging and he knows how to develop his characters. You will enjoy the Cutter family especially Jim Cutter. Barclay is a master in ejecting humor in his male characters and you will absolutely come to love them. My only disappointment is that I have read all of Mr. Barclay's book and I am anxiously waiting for a new one.

    Losing sleep

This is the 2nd of Linwood's books my wife and I have read. We read in bed and these are very hard to put down, so he is responsible for us losing quite a bit of sleep - highly recommended.

    Very enjoyable!

This is the third book of Linwood Barclay that I have read and it is by the best. The characters are very easy to get to know and the suspense is thrilling. I had a very hard time putting the book down. The twists and turns were very unexpected and exciting.

    Believable, fast paced story!

Liked all the characters. Second read of this author---first was on a suggestion and plan to read others. Kept my attention to the end...could be my neighbors! Glad I stumbled upon Linwood Barclay having read all of Harlen Coben. Provided nice escape from hectic day!

    Too Close to Home

I loved this - listened on audio-book - usually for best listening - few characters are involved - but in this case - each character was drawn out for easy retention. Why doesn't Linwood Barclay have ALL of his books on Audio?~mlogal

    Suspenseful, Page-Turning, Easy Quick Read

When the Cutters' neighbours, Mr and Mrs Langley and their young son Adam, are brutally murdered in cold blood everyone is shocked and when the police discover that 17 year old Derek Cutter was hiding in their house at the time of the killings he then becomes the prime suspect. His friend Adam's computer is missing; what has that got to do with his mother's boss; and could a young man's suicide somehow be linked to the novel that was on the missing computer? Did the killers go to the wrong address - should they have been looking for the Cutters house instead?

Derek's father, Jim Cutter, is determined to prove his son's innocence and it seems that everyone has secrets to hide, even Jim...........

This is the 2nd Linwood Barclay book I've read - his debut novel was No Time For Goodbye which was a Richard & Judy pick. This is very similar in many ways: it starts with a mystery and the reveal is very slowly and tantalisingly uncovered with twists and turns along the way. The main narrator, Jim Cutter, was incredibly likeable, honest, protective of his family, talked in mono-syllables, and did not suffer fools lightly; sounds like my kind of guy!

I always think that with these kind of books (suspense, mystery) that the reveal is never going to match up to all the build-up throughout the novel, and Too Close to Home is no exception. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed it, Linwood Barclay's fast writing had me hooked from the start, and I didn't guess the plot, but I just felt there was something missing and I'm not sure what it was!

However, if you enjoyed No Time for Goodbye or Sophie Hannah's books then I think you'd like this just as much.

    The book was fine

I like the book but I feel like it would have been better if the Point Of View was Derek's and not his father's. Derek was just left out while his father did all the detective work. It was an ok book. But I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone

    This book was ok.

I wasnt crazy about this book. It started off good but as the pages turned i noticed that the author got off topic alot. He seems to try to put every little detail about every thought he had. I wouldnt recommend it for anyone unless you have spare time and dont mind reading 500 pages when you could have read 300 to get the story.
