Good Book

Good book, it was a fun read but the storyline was very similar to another Cheryl Holt book I had read but moved faster if that makes sense~

Really great book - too bad about the sucky ratings

I think some people buy Holt's books thinking they are like average recency romances, but they are really more erotic. I know some of the reviews say it's revolting and perverted but if you like more erotica in your romance it's a good choice. I like Julia Templeton, Jess Michaels & Leda Swann and am always looking for more authors like them so I was actually pleased to come across another like them. It's a shame about the ratings though. I'll be buying more of her books and I think people who like similiar authors would like it as well. If you're looking for a more traditional romance novel, probably not.

Anyone who gives less than 5 stars to Holt must not enjoy a great sexy steamy romance! If you enjoy reading Julia Quinn, you will LOVE Cheryl Holt!!

Too horrible to read

If i have to describe to book with words, it's iterrible, awful, appalling, frightful; hideous, grim, ghastly, shocking, revolting, repulsive, horrid, horrendous, horrifying, repellent.
I couldn't even finish pass 100page, and I only got to 100 pages because there was nothing to do but read at the DMV. I left it at the DMV.
Too horrible to even finish it.
Holt could do so much better, but maybe not :(

what a waste of paper.

The hero swaggers in like an old cliche. The heroine agrees to prostitute herself immediately, for her brother, whom she knows is not worth it. Nothing made sense in this book. Nothing to commend it. The relationship between the lead characters was thin and weak, and frankly, not sexy at all. I wish publishers would stop contracting authors for 4 books a year, because the end result is distinctly unsatisfying. This book was nothing. worse than nothing. it was crude, boring, slow, under-developed, poorly wrriten... In a nutshell - ABSTAIN!!!

To Wicked To Read!

This 5 star writer hit rock bottom with this book. Helen goes from oh I am a virgin to take me quick in one minute flat. Then there is the blood and guts which seems to be the prevelent theme of this book. Murder, meyhem,homosexuality and near rape just isn't this authors' usual plot. So sorry she felt it had to in To Wicked To Wed, perhaps a better name would be To Wicked To Read.

Save your money!

I had such high expectations for this book and I was sorely disappointed. When the main characters meet, Helen instantly feels the need the just give up her virginity and seems to have no qualms about doing so. I'm sorry, but a woman who was that concerned with her virtue would not just throw it away in a heartbeat because of a pretty face. Not to mention the sex scenes were very lacking. There was no overall dialogue or structure to this book. Luke is laughable at best. It's as if the author has never met a real man and just assumed this is how one would behave. It was very hard to believe. Sorry to be so harsh, but I just can not convey how disappointing this book was.

what a horrible book

The story between the lead characters doesn't evolve. Their dialogue is humdrum, like, 'They are my servants.' 'No, they are not.' 'Yes, they are.' And so forth. But they never talk about themselves, the relationship. Boring. The hero is a big gorilla that keeps pounding on his chest. The heroine is a pathetic, self-deprecating mouse, who tells herself all the time that she is a slut. Most of the sex scenes occur between the sub-characters and are crude, like a man forcing a frightened maid to service him - the scene happened several times! Why? We got it the first time. He is the sick pervert villain. Enough already. Show me the tender moments between the lead characters ¿ but there weren¿t any!!! I kept asking the author - what about the main characters? Where are they in the story? Why is he in London and she in the country? Why do I have to read about these S&M scenes between unimportant characters? Needless to say I gave up on the book half way through. This book is neither romance nor erotica! It is plain bad. I will hesitate to buy this author's books again. Sorry.

A fine character driven historical

In 1814 war hero Captain William Luke Westmoreland wins Mansfield Estate in a card game with moronic hedonist Archibald Mansfield. Archibald¿s older sister twenty-five year old on the shelf Helen pleads with Luke to not displace her and her sibling only to learn her brother also gambled away her virginity. Luke rejects her plea as he has never forgotten that his mother Mary Lucas was a ward of her father and therefore entitled to his protection when she was seduced by Duke Harold Westmoreland instead her dad tossed the pregnant girl onto the street.------------- Helen ultimately agrees to his terms of being his mistress for thirty days. However, he finds his attraction to her distracting him from his life goal of revenge by ruining Mansfield¿s daughter. As Luke and Helen fall in love, someone else has plans to use the spinster for personal goals of wealth and perhaps some sex.---------------- Though similar in overall theme too many Regency romances, TOO WICKED TO WED contains a vitality and crispness due a solid cast especially the self-indulgent villains. The lead couple is an obvious pairing as they battle over her virtue while her brother¿s rage with Helen is fabulous as he blames her for his woes because she failed to ¿sell¿ her body. Archibald¿s best friend adds to a feel that the ethics of the male members of the Ton is selfish pleasure at the cost of others. Cheryl Holt provides a fine character driven historical.------------- Harriet Klausner
