Okay Banjo

I gave this to my son for Christmas. My daughter has a ukulele that her grandparents brought from Hawaii. My son loves it so I thought he might want something similar. The banjo is okay, but he prefers the ukulele because it just feels more like a guitar/real instrument. Also, one of the black knobs came off and my husband had to glue it back on. I like the Plan Toys drum which we own. That one they do play with.

Adults disappointed, Pre-Schooler OK

We have several children and adult instruments including guitars and a violin, so was a bit disappointed that this banjo was so unlike a banjo (e.g., proportions, nonfunctional strings). However, my 3-year old was excited to get it as a birthday present and pretends to play on it (versus actually playing on our other instruments). He's had it a month and still bangs it around the house. Perhaps that is why he likes it as he knows to treat our other instruments with respect. Personally, I don't think it is good value but I'm glad to see my son enjoying it.
