    Excellent

Great game, particularly if you do not want to spend hours to finish Settlers of Catan.

    A Great Gateway Game

Carcassonne is a great game for people of all ages. The rules are simple enough that it can be taught in a few minutes, but there is enough depth here to keep you coming back again and again. The only thing that serious gamers might not like about this game is the luck factor of the random tile draw, but I think the strategy behind the tile and worker placement more than makes up for this. You have to balance your need for scoring at the endgame (once you place farmers, you never get them back) versus scoring immediately during the game (thieves, monks, and knights are all returned to you once their respective objects are completed).

This game has been an instant hit with everyone that I've showed it to, especially people I would consider "non-gamers." I would highly recommend this as a "gateway game" if you're looking into getting people interested in the hobby. I give this game five stars because, although the luck factor of the tile draw may be a bit of a hindrance, the accessibility and fun factor of this game more than make up for it.

    A Great Game

If you're tired of playing card or trivia games, this game is for you. I can sit around with a few friends and easliy spend an hour "tormenting" each other to great amusement. Tons of fun!

After getting down all the rules "and we even had to pick up on some as we went along" the game is simple and fun. The general idea and game-play is easy, but the scoring aspect can get a bit confusing. It's also a good game to make up or modify your own rules for "we figured out a great drinking game with it, too". A great pick for people who like roleplaying type, puzzles, or Risk-esque games.
