Frustrating Game
I bought this game as a present for my visiting grandsons. The 10 year old looked through the cards and play tokens, took a quick look at the instructions, and declined to play. The eight year old gave it a try, but I found the instructions so unspecific about important details that we gave up. Later we tried to decide on our own rules to make the game functional, but the game was still tedious. When the kids packed for home, no one made an effort to stick the game in their luggage. After they left, I threw it away.

Could have been better
As another reviewer mentioned, the instructions are ambiguous at best, so you're better off reading through the instructions and then changing them so that they make sense to you. For instance, we don't place our potions facedown in front of us, we just hold onto them so that we always have four cards in our hand. Apprentice challenges are won by whomever is closer to completing the potion. Ties can be broken by tied players discarding a card and redrawing, if that doesn't win it, then the challenge is lost. I think if the designers actually sat through a game with their instructions, they would have seen the obvious problems, but I guess the chance to make our own rules can be a good thing, too.

Creative and fun
The game is a creative way to use logic. My children, ages 7 and 10, had a great time playing with it.

If you like Harry Potter you'll love this game!
This game is tons of fun! Everyone is an apprentice and they're tying to make a magic potion based on dice and cards. The game has tons of cool potion ingrediants and actions that feel like they came right out of the Harry Potter books. But my favorite part is that if you're behind in the game you can come back and win it all by stealing recipes or spilling cauldrons. It is fun for both kids and parents!
