Fun game, but not an improvement on the original

This game is a rework of the original Ticket To Ride. Players work to build railways across Europe. This version adds ferries, tunnels,... but this does little to add to the fun and in fact seemed a bit cumbersome. It also seemed to tip the scale toward being a more luck driven game. Though this game is fun, it is does not improve on the original version. I do, however, think that the cards in this version of the game are much easier to use. They are larger, and easier to handle.

I bought this game for my niece (8yrs) and nephew (10yrs) for Christmas. I think they spend too much time watching tv or playing computer games so I wanted to get them something that would be entertaining enough to draw them away from that stimulus and also get their minds working. This game was perfect! They were hesitant to play and it takes longer than the 5 minutes the box suggests to get started, but once we got rolling it was a lot of fun. The kids were learning different places in Europe as well as trying to formulate the best strategy to win. The pace is as fast or as slow as you want and they were able to keep up with all of the details. They liked the game so much that they took it to grandpa's house and brought it to another gathering so they could play it. All of the adults who played it thought it was really great too. I highly recommend this game for any family!

    Great Game

This is a great gateway game. It takes 5 minutes to learn and can be played in about an hour. It is a good game for people who are big into strategy games to teach people who have only ever played games like monopoly and life. It involves a decent amount of strategy, luck, and a bit of cut throat action. I disagree with the earlier reviewer though, it is not more luck driven than the original. It can be a little less stressful because of the addition of train stations. And it is a decent way to learn geography. It is a bit pricey, but has a lot of replayability.
