It's just okay.
Saga of the Allspark is a part of the live-action movie universe, and is a collection of stories originally published in the UK. For $2.99, I'd say it's worth it. The stories themselves were okay, though not especially memorable, with the exception of the stories revolving around Jazz and Devastator, which I really liked. The first story in the collection kind of clashed with the continuity given by Transformers: Defiance. In Defiance, the Allspark automatically heads towards Earth because it is honing in on the location of the Harvester, but in Saga of the Allspark, it goes towards Earth because it was teleported there on accident. As far as the artwork is concerned, it varies from a kind of old-looking style, with bright colors and less detail, to a darker, more detailed style (which I like a lot). There are quite a few different artists that took part in drawing the Saga of the Allspark, and, I am sorry to say, not all are good. I didn't care for the brighter style (though it might be just a matter of preference, my brother liked it the most), but some of the art at the very end was just plain bad. Overall, if you want to know a bit more about the characters before the Bay movies took place, than this is an okay buy (for $2.99, though, not $14). For a prequel story with stronger art and a stronger storyline, I would recommend Transformers: Alliance, Transformers: Defiance, and The Reign of Starscream. Was this review helpful?
