I love this book so much because it saved me. Literally. I was on the verge of throwing out all my erotica books, largely because of a recent Cleis Press anthology that had put me to sleep — usually I worship Cleis! — and also because I hadn’t picked up anything erotica-related in the past few months that had seriously blown me away. I was becoming more and more disappointed (and distraught!) by the genre as a whole, extremely saddened to realize I might be losing my erotica zeal. Fortunately Transported gave me back my drive (does this sound like a Viagra commercial?). Thank you, Sharazade.
There’s a certain sensation, a complete rush of blood to the head, to travel hookups. Whether they be with significant others or brooding, mysterious strangers, the unfamiliar places, the insecure circumstances, and of course, the constant risk of being caught at any moment, make it something worth writing about. Sharazade crafts nine gorgeously-written, heartfelt stories that I adored because of their genuine voice and scorching scenes.
I’m amazed how each of the nine stories has come from the same author, but it doesn’t seem like it. They’re not just the same story with different characters and a different setting; each short story is its own masterpiece, each more original, clever, and sexier than the other. How does that work? Sharazade is a masterful wordsmith, that’s how, and she definitely knows the secret of arousal through the written word.
You will not be dissatisfied with Transported. Composed of nine lush erotic stories that are all of adrenaline-pumping and sensual, I’m proud to say books like these give me hope. This collection of shorts is not only perfectly sultry, but sophisticatedly so. The scenes are not over-the-top nor worthy of eye rolls, like much of the erotica I see on the market these days. They’re realistic, and true to the female psyche. Highly insightful, intelligent, but still flirty and very improper. In my opinion, this is the ideal erotica for women. Not because it’s gentle and vanilla and frou-frou — in fact, quite the opposite. But because it’s raw and honest and real. And did I mention hot hot hot! Try this one if you’re on the brink of giving up on erotica. Your faith will be restored.
